Besse named Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation 2017 Featured Artist
Linda Besse has been named the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation 2017 Featured Artist. Her painting Call of the Wild was selected as the 2017 Featured Print. Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation chapters around the country will have this limited edition canvas print available for their fund-raising auctions. Linda is very honored to have her work selected as the only Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation print available for 2017.

Linda Besse's large painting, Battle Royale, has been accepted into the 50th Annual Juried Exhibition of the Society of Animal Artists. It was awarded teh Ethology Award, an award presented to the painting or sculpture which best depicts Natural Behavior.

Linda Besse's painting Flamingo Dance was accepted into the Oil Painters of America's Annual Juried Show. A total of 2,560 entries were received for this show of only 200 oil paintings.

Almost 10,000 entries were received this year for the Artist's Magazine Competition. From those entries, 50 - 75 are selected as finalists in each category. Linda Besse had 3 paintings selected as finalists in the Animal/Wildlife Category.

Linda Besse has now been to all 7 continents to research the flora and fauna for her paintings. To celebrate, she did what any person with temporary insanity would do, the Antarctic Polar Plunge!

ANTARCTICA EXPEDITION
Linda heads to Antarctica to research penguins, seal, and whales. This is a spot she has longed to see and she looks forward to taking an indepth look at the Frozen Continent.
This trip will also make Linda a member of the 7 Continent Club as she visits her last two continents (South America and Antarctica.)

Labrador Expedition
Linda has been asked to be part of the upcoming WREAF Expedition to Labrador, Canada. (www.wreaf.org) At the invitation of the Innu Nation, twelve will head to a remote spot to witness the George River caribou migration. The trip is sponsored by the Canadian Wildlife Federation and associated with the Smithsonian’s Arctic Studies Center. A show at the Smithsonian of the field sketches and paintings generated from the trip is anticipated in late 2009 or 2010. About ½ of the herd of 800,000 caribou passes through this region of Labrador. Her trip is Sept 28th - Oct 18th, 2008

The Endangered Species - Flora and Fauna in Peril has accepted Linda Besse's painting, The Return, for inclusion in this prestigious exhibition and sale. Beginning at the Wildling Art Musuem in Los Olivos, CA, the touring show will continue to the Dept of the Interior in Washington DC and finish at The Wildlife Experience in Parker, CO. Linda is honored to be included in this show of very select pieces which showcases Threatened and Endangered Species of the U.S.

Painting Donated to the International Snow Leopard Trust
Linda Besse has donated her snow leopard painting titled Lord of the Mountains to the International Snow Leopard Trust. "The ISNT does such good work focusing their efforts on preserving the snow leopard by engaging the local peoples and their habitat," says Linda. The painting is 23" X 30" with a framed value of $6000.
