Besse Accepted into Birds in Art 2010 |
|
For the 8th time in 10 years, Linda Besse has a painting accepted into the prestigious Birds in Art Exhibit at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, WI. Her painting, Giraffe & Company was accepted for this year's show.In this painting, birds are not the largest creature, but represent an important element in the environment. Linda writes,"Of the giraffe subspecies, I think the Reticulated Giraffe is the most striking. The refined spots add to the drama of its patterned coat. By placing the giraffe in shadow, I was able to play with orange dappled light. The Red-billed oxpeckers I painted for scale, and well, for fun. Not only do these birds provide vital tick and fly removal service, they also alert their hosts to danger from approaching predators. And they get a free ride. Giraffe & Company is definitely a successful merger." |
