Art Partnerships for Mongolian Conservation |
|
|
Art Partnerships for Mongolian Conservation (APMC) was founded by AFC member and Flag Expedition recipient Susan Fox in 2008. Our mission is to use the arts to support conservation in Mongolia. We seek ways to provide local artists, artisans and craftspeople support and expertise that will allow them to benefit from the parks and reserves that they either live in or adjacent to. One of our main goals is to give them means to earn money by selling their art and crafts to visitors to these protected areas, thus giving them a stake in their conservation. Your donation will provide support for programs such as helping set up crafts cooperatives, making micro-loans, the purchase of art and craft supplies and equipment, engaging consultants in areas like business planning and marketing, holding art events at the parks and reserves and mentoring young and emerging artists. We also hope to provide a model by which other individual artists can make a difference. Art Partnerships for Mongolian Conservation is a non-profit association registered in the state of California. We are sponsored by the Denver Zoological Foundation, which will handle the APMC's administrative overhead and, through its 501(c)3 status, allow supporters to make tax-deductible donations. President and founder, Susan Fox, has traveled a number of times to Mongolia and has found it a productive and rewarding place in which to put her efforts. There is great grassroots support for conservation in Mongolia. What is often lacking is means and expertise. Given the long, proud artistic tradition of the Mongols, connecting art and conservation in Mongolia has great, but currently untapped, potential. APMC aims to change that. |
