Subject: Dappled light illuminating a formal garden near Villa D'Este Dimensions (inches): 7.5 x 9.5 Medium: Transp. Watercolor on Arches Rough 140lb. Description: For many years we'd stop in Italy both going & coming back from India. Italy is another one of those countries that artists have been fond of since the 1700's. I love the light in these formal gardens where the statues are set off against beautiful gardens, trees, and shrubs. But it is the subtle reflected light that bounces around the marble and stone work in fountains and sculpture that provides me an ample excuse to paint.
