Pollyanna becomes honorary member of Rotary International
At a recent meeting of the Matlock Rotary Club their president Paul Fryer (below right) inducted Pollyanna into the society as an honorary member. The club offered the honorary membership to provide recognition by both the club and the local community of "Pollyanna's outstanding contribution, both nationally and internationally to wildlife conservation through her many works of art depicting species in this country and overseas".
"I was absolutely delighted to be invited to become an honorary member of Rotary" Pollyanna told us. "I have spoken to many Rotary clubs over the years – including of course the Matlock club – but never imagined this invitation would be extended to me. Rotary carry out so much valuable work, and raise so much money for charity every year. I am very honoured to join them – especially I the year the Matlock club celebrates its 80th anniversary!"
Pollyanna is the second honorary member of Matlock Rotary, joining businessman Andrew Pugh of the Heights of Abraham and East Midlands Tourist Board.
The Matlock club is part of Rotary International in Britain and Ireland. The Rotary motto ‘Service above Self' encourages members to give something back into the community both locally and internationally.
