The Association of Animal Artists Exhibition in Support of The Pollyanna Pickering Foundation
Date: Wednesday, April 03, 2013 to Wednesday, May 15, 2013 Location: Castle Park Arts Centre, Castle Park, Frodsham, Cheshire. UK
Details: The Association of Animal Artists has selected The Pollyanna Pickering Foundation as the major beneficiary of their exhibition at the Castle Park Arts Centre, set in beautiful parkland in the historic town of Frodsham. The Centre houses three galleries – all of which will be exhibiting work by the AAA – as well as craft units and a coffee shop serving freshly made light lunches.
The Association of Animal Artists Annual Exhibition is fast becoming essential viewing for all those with a love of the animal kingdom and the art that celebrates it. AAA artists are unique in that they create work of all animals (not just wildlife), whether in the air, on land or in water, in any medium or style, and they are positively encouraged to explore and enjoy their creativity. This leads to a varied, dynamic and stimulating, yet sensitive, exhibition full of outstanding examples of animal art from both award-winning professionals to talented amateur artists with an abiding passion for art and for animals of all kinds.
The AAA hope that their celebration of the natural world will hopefully encourage visitors to SEE, and not just to look, while offering the chance to purchase beautiful examples of this important contemporary art form and raising funds for their conservation charity partners. A full programme of art workshops and art rendezvous will take place throughout the event – details to be announced.

Pollyanna Pickering Exhibition : Last Chance to Paint
Date: Saturday, June 22, 2013 to Sunday, July 07, 2013 Location: The Gallery Brookvale House Oaker Matlock Derbyshire DE4 2JJ (AA Signposted) Admission Free
Details: Inspired by the book and subsequent television series ‘Last Chance to See...’ Pollyanna has created a remarkable new collection of paintings of endangered species. In 1989 author Douglas Adams (best known for the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy Series of books) and zoologist Mark Carwardine made a series of BBC radio documentaries travelling to various locations in the hope of encountering species on the brink of extinction. A book of the same name was published the following year. In 2009, the BBC aired a television follow-up series, with Stephen Fry (left, with Pollyanna) replacing the late Adams as Mark Carwardine’s travelling companion. Pollyanna's determination to paint only animals which she has observed in their natural habitats has also lead her into a unique series of travelling across five continents in her quest to observe some of the rarest animals in the world. Pollyanna came to realise that she could be one of the very last artists to have the opportunity to paint some of our most threatened animals in the wild – from polar bears in the melting ice of the high arctic to Amur tigers in Siberia.
Pollyanna recognised a parallel between her painting expeditions and the journeys made by the Last Chance writers and broadcasters, and the way in which they are able to share their encounters with some of the world’s most vulnerable creatures – in her case through her award winning artwork. This exhibition will include the very first paintings from her recent treks into the Virunga Mountains in Rwanda to observe mountain gorillas, as well as images from recent travels through the wilderness areas of Vietnam and Thailand.
Two new limited edition prints will be exclusively launched during the exhibition. Also on display throughout will be Pollyanna's extensive ranges of greetings cards, fine art and limited edition prints, and a wide variety of gift ware featuring her designs. There will even be a sneak preview of some of Pollyanna’s latest Christmas cards commissioned by charities including Guide Dogs for the Blind and The Blue Cross. Pollyanna will be on hand throughout to chat to visitors and sign copies of her popular books. Tea and coffee will be available throughout – visitors are also welcome to bring picnics to enjoy in the gardens.
Ten percent of all sales will donated to Conservation projects through the Pollyanna Pickering Foundation.
