Pollyanna Pickering Opens New Artist’s Studios

Pollyanna has a long standing association with Guide Dog for the Blind who have been commissioning & publishing her work on cards and gifware since the 1980's - over the year helping to raise tens of thousands of pounds for the charity's work.

During Pollyanna’s 2014 Christmas exhibition in her private gallery she was proud to unveil the first 10 copies of a new limited edition print of badgers, Safe Haven. Each print was co-signed by Queen Guitarist Brian May - a passionate advocate for animal welfare. A few days after the event, Pollyanna was delighted to present Debbie Bailey of the High Peak Badger Group with a cheque for £1,000.00 – the initial funds raised by the campaign. Pollyanna Pickering Foundation funds sanctuary for Painted Dogs in Namibia
Pollyanna has visited one of the major conservation projects funded by the Pollyanna Pickering Foundation. In 2011 the Foundation paid £8,700.00 – the equivalent of $94,0000.00 Namibian dollars - to build a huge enclosure – over 8 hectares - (above) at the N/a’an ku sê Wildlife Sanctuary in Namibia. Building the enclosure ensured the safe and secure growth and development of 14 orphaned painted dog pups - which would otherwise have faced certain death - and will eventually allow their re-introduction into former areas of residence such as Etosha National Park.

Conservation weekend raises over $8 000 for cheetah relocation
Pollyanna recently opened her gallery for a special weekend in support of cheetah conservation. Vanessa Bezuidenhout director of the De Wildt Cheetah and Conservation Trust flew over from South Africa for the event and was present in the gallery throughout to chat to visitors about her work with these beautiful cats.

At a recent meeting of the her regional branch of the Rotary Club their president inducted Pollyanna into the society as an honorary member. The club offered the honorary membership to provide recognition by both the club and the local community of “Pollyanna’s outstanding contribution, both nationally and internationally to wildlife conservation through her many works of art depicting species in this country and overseas”.

BBC screen Pollyanna Pickering Documentary
The most recent documentary to feature Pollyanna's work - ‘Made in England’ - has just been broadcast on BBC1 in the UK. The documentary makers challenged Pollyanna to 'work outside her comfort zone' and instead of painting the birds and animals she loves, to turn her attention to the 'human zoo' and paint people instead!
