As a painter for 43 years, I have developed an extremely strong foundation in drawing, composition and colour theory. Over this time I have completed many commissioned paintings.
These commissions include heritage and residential homes/properties, aviation, vehicle, wildlife and floral subjects. As well as multi-dimensional mixed media projects.
Commissions are accepted; I prefer and enjoy when the process is very personal; the client and myself work through plans for the composition and colour palette. Pricing is based on dimensions, subject and time required to complete a project. I find commissioned works to be a very positive and rewarding experience.
Most of my work is created on specially prepared canvases. First we build the required size of stretcher frame from high quality wood. 10 or 12 oz. double primed canvas, or unprimed linen, is stretched over the frame. Next, I apply a minimum of four coats of gesso, sanded, until the surface is very smooth. The prepared canvas is then painted with iridescent bronze or an alternate ground colour. The quality of the work begins with the foundation.
