Most art work is done in scratchboard

I grew up as an "army brat" living all over the world. With my parents encouragement while living in Japan I had my first formal lessons at age 9 with a Japanese oil painter. In my teens I lived in Stockholm, Sweden, where my father was the Asst. Army Attache' at the US Embassy. There I attended The French School and was exposed to many of the great artist at the museums.

During my working career I lived in Colorado Springs and worked in land development and property management. I was also on the Board of Directors of the Savings and Loan in Woodland Park, Colorado. During that time I mainly painted landscapes in oil using different parts of the world that I had visited as subjects.

After moving to Tucson, Arizona I started attending classes at the Art Institute of the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum. It was there that I attended a class given by Rick Wheeler and found a new "art love", scratch board. I have continued to study under scratch board artists, Cathy Sheeter and Rick Wheeler. To round out my knowledge o f wildlife I have also taken classes from renowned wildlife artists, Edward Aldrlch, Guy Combes and Linda Feltner.
