Born and raised on Washington’s tiny Bainbridge Island, Carrie Goller is attracted to the simple yet sensuous organic forms, colors and textures found in, and inspired by nature. She works in a wide range of genres and media, such as oil, egg tempera, mixed media and encaustic, which is an ancient medium using molten, pigmented beeswax. Goller easily transitions from rich still life oils, tender paintings of birds, impressionistic slices of daily life to sea and landscapes. Goller’s work tends to be classical, with leanings towards the experimental.

Goller has been featured on King 5 television and in the national magazine American Art Collector. Her works are shown in several galleries, including her own Carrie Goller Gallery in Poulsbo, Washington as well as Bainbridge Island Museum of Art gallery store. She has been interviewed for and featured in the 2013 book Encaustic Art by Jennifer Margell and is one of 500 worldwide signature members juried into Artists for Conservation.

Goller instructs private groups and arts organizations, is a guest lecturer as Northwest College of Art and Design and has an instructional DVD demonstrating her encaustic painting methods.

Art has become a necessity for me. It is both work and play – exhilarating yet restorative. It’s where I find balance. - Carrie Goller.

As a colorist, I truly appreciate Carrie Goller’s work. She has a wonderful talent for creative combinations that really do engage the eye. - Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute.

    More about Encaustic Art
One of ten artists interviewed/featured in hard-bound book - Encaustic painting is one of the world’s most venerable art forms, having been practiced consistently around the world since the ancient Egyptians first used it to decorate sarcophagi, and enjoying continuing popularity in the modern era with artists such as Paul Klee and Diego Rivera. In this new text, Jennifer Margell offers readers a comprehensive introduction to the medium, featuring instructive how-tos for encaustic art beginners, revealing interviews with some of the most celebrated practitioners of the medium, and a gallery featuring one of the largest published collections of encaustic art.
