Above Bear Loop (Plein Aire) - The eastern face of a cliff high above Dubois, Wyoming by David Rankin
Above Bear Loop (Plein Aire)  (2005)
Subject: The eastern face of a cliff high above Dubois, Wyoming
Dimensions (inches): 10 x 14
Medium: Transp Watercolor on Arches 140lb Rough
Description: When painting on location ( plein aire ), I normally work on several watercolor blocks at a time. I this way I can switch from one painting to the other to allow for drying time. The photo below is a shot of my painting set-up facing due north and the dramatic shadows falling over these far mountains. But this cliff face was just to my left and was catching the brilliant late morning light begging to be painted.
