Spring Promise
Subject: Gambels Quail and Prickly Pear cactus Dimensions (inches): 8 x 8.5 Medium: Gouache and watercolor on Arches Paper Description: In this scene from my back yard, both the incandescent blooms of the prickly pear and the striking plumage of the male Gambel's quail seemed to contrast beautifully. Each, in their own way, seemed to eloquently promise new life in the Mojave spring.
