Subject: Common Gallinule Dimensions (inches): 30 x 22 Medium: Watercolor on Saunders Waterford 300# paper Description: The inspiration for this painting came from a particular gallinule at Green Cay in southern Florida . While observing the close wildlife as seen from the elevated board walk in this wonderful park, I was struck by a gallinule, perched and contented, while embraced within the shadows of rushes across the plant-covered surface of the water. My attempt in preserving the light and evanescence of the scene, was to minimize pigment in the environment while using the most contrast near the bird.
