Description: PETRELS
Three plates of seabirds were the first I prepared for the 'Birds of Peru'. Decades later, with greatly increased observations and knowledge of pelagic birds off the Peruvian coast, more species were to be illustrated, so it was decided not to use these plates. Also, the style needed to change to non-overlapping figures, as the final concept of the book was to develop.
Cook's Petrel (2 figs), Galapagos Petrel (2 figs), Cape Petrel (2 figs), Peruvian Diving Petrel, Slender-billed Prion, Dove Prion, and Broad-billed Prion (head).
