Description: SWALLOWS
This is an early plate that was prepared for the 'Birds of Peru' but it was not used. Increasing knowledge about the birds and changes in the design of the book required more illustrations of additional species and non-overlapping figures for the publication.
Species of swallows:
White-winged S. (immature and adult perched, adult flying), White-rumped S. (adult perched in center, flying on right), Chilean S. (adult perched in center, flying beneath), Peruvian (Tumbes) S. (adult perched on right, flying below), Blue and White S. (juvenile perched on left, adult flying below), Brown-bellied S. (two forms flying on left), Pale-footed S. (adult flying in center), Andean S. (flying on right), White-thighed S. (flying below Andean), Tawny-headed S. (flying below White-thighed), Chestnut-collared S. (flying on left), American Cliff S. (adult on bottom left, immature above), Bank S. (on right), and Southern Rough-winged S. (on bottom right).
