This painting formed the frontispiece for the paper describing this species (2005, The Wilson Bulletin Vol 117. No. 2, Bret Whitney and Jose Alvarez Alonso). The bird was discovered in the Reserva Nacional Allpahuayo-Mishana near Iquitos, Peru. The vegetation is Caraipa tereticaulis, a tree common to that area.
