After the Mudbath
(2012)
Subject: African elephant calves Dimensions (inches): 10 x 7 Medium: Oil on Board - SOLD Description: Paseka, Lorato and Sherini are part of the Abu Camp herd in Botswana and during my field trip to gather references and experience the Okavango Delta (as part of my research for a body of work to exhibit to raise funds for The Elephants For Africa Trust - EFA) I was very fortunate to spend several days with them and their mahouts just hanging out in the bush all day. Paseka (on the left) was an orphan found abandoned after a suspected attack by hyenas, she was adopted into the herd by Sherini. Lorato is the calf of one of the other females in the herd. Similar in age they spend much of their time playing together. This painting was sold in advance of the exhibition and part of the sale price has already gone to Elephants For Africa. It was on show at the exhibition by kind permission of the client. The exhibition was in September at the Nature In Art Museum and Art Gallery, Glos, UK, 2015
