Robert Bateman Opens First Annual Nature Art and Environmental Education Festival at Grouse Mountain |
9/13/2011 - VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Sept. 13, 2011) - Artists for Conservation (AFC), the world's leading group of artists supporting the environment, and Grouse Mountain, the Peak of Vancouver, today announced world renowned nature artist, Robert Bateman will give the opening address at the launch of its first annual Artists For Conservation Festival November 5. The 10-day event will bring out leading nature and wildlife artists from around the world, immersing visitors in art and nature through workshops, film, and a world class art show.
"Artists have always been at the forefront of conservation," said Jeff Whiting, founder of Artists for Conservation. "All of the artists featured in the show are lending their talent to support wildlife and habitat conservation with a percentage of proceeds from their artwork benefiting a conservation organization of their choice."
From November 5 to 13, 2011 festival visitors will have the opportunity to view, compare and discuss the world's top nature and wildlife art, learn about conservation issues, participate in workshops, listen to inspiring lectures, watch live painting demos and documentaries, and directly support AFC and conservation work through the purchase of artwork and festival merchandise.
"Some of the world's leading nature and wildlife artists and naturalists will be convening at Grouse Mountain to give presentations, live painting demos and workshops. We're particularly proud to be offering local students and underprivileged youth a week of inspiring art and environmental education," said Whiting. "This is a great example of art in action."
The festival will include special presentations by 19 artists including Robert Bateman, internationally-renowned marine artist, Guy Harvey and other prominent Canadian artists such as Kelly Dodge, Mark Hobson, and David Kitler.
