Under Surveillance
(2011)
Subject: American Crow Dimensions (inches): 20 x 40 Medium: Acrylic on canvas Description: Chosen for 2011 The Art of Conservation Show.
Throughout history crows have often been accused of being harbingers of doom or death because of their unnerving demeanor. On the other hand, they have also been revered as spiritual entities.
Recent studies have shown that crows demonstrate many human characteristics and show remarkable examples of intelligence. Crows recognize and remember human faces and in this painting, I want the viewer to feel that they are under the watchful and scrutinizing eye of the crow.
