Specimen of Mauritius Blue Pigeon
Friday, May 15, 2009
This is the one of the three remaining specimens left in the world of the Mauritius Blue Pigeon, also called Dutch Pigeon. Unfortunately this specimen has been poorly preserved but at least it's on display. This pigeon had white to led-coloured neck feathers, blue plumage and a red tail.
The other two specimens are in Paris and Edinburgh.
