Downeast Salmon Federation |
|
|
The Downeast Salmon Federation (DSF -Est. 1982) was created to protect and restore Atlantic salmon and the watersheds and habitats the species requires. Originally composed of anglers, the organization has broadened both its mission and membership to include land trust activities, technical support and outreach directed toward the increasingly diverse conservation needs in the region. Their mission is to conserve wild Atlantic salmon and its habitat, restorea viable sports fishery and protect other important river, scenic, recreational and ecological resources in eastern Maine Primarily the focus is on the Narraguagus, Pleasant, Machias, East Machias, Dennys and Tunk River Watersheds in Washington County, Maine. Washington County is the eastern-most county in the United States and encompasses five of the eight remaining rivers in the US with endangered populations of wild Atlantic salmon.
