Goldeneye
(2015)
Subject: Goldeneye Dimensions (inches): 24 x 18 Medium: Acrylic on canvas Description: The Goldeneye (no, not the James Bond movie) is a common migratory duck found in many of the lakes and rivers of Canada ,Northern U.S., Scandinavia and Russia. The male has a dark head with iridescent accents while the female has a brown head, both featuring the prominent golden-yellow eye. The day I took this reference picture it was an early spring day with the ice beginning to melt in the river. With a grey sky reflecting on slightly choppy water I wanted to maintain a monochromatic look and feel to the painting to reflect the cold and stark atmosphere of that day while having the Goldeneye blend in yet also stand out with the promise of spring to come.
