Details: Fire evolved as Gary worked on his third wild cat portrait, a jaguar. It is a stand-alone picture. Gary says: 'I realised many weeks ago my drawing was evolving into something special for me - a different image to the planned jaguar portrait. So I kept certain areas faint to emphasise his intense eye and swirling patterns, creating an emotive design. I've worked on this, a stepping stone to the portrait, but unique in itself. It is a Mayan traditional belief that the Jaguar God becomes a fire-eyed Sun God every sunrise.'
He personally oversees the printing process to ensure superb quality reproduction from his original pencil drawing. Fire is limited to only 195 copies worldwide with 19 Artist Proofs. The fine art paper he has chosen to best show off the incredible detail is Italian-made Fabriano 5. Ideal for lithographic printing this paper (50% cotton blended with carefully selected raw materials) is acid free to guarantee excellent permanence and resistance to ageing. Gary then quality checks each print which is individually numbered by hand and personally signed by the artist.
