Description: JACAMARS and BARBETS
This particular plate was not used in the book, 'Birds of Peru'. It was prepared before the final design of the book was finalized. Eventually, more figures had to be added to each of these two groups and I decided to paint them over and give them their own respective plates.
Species of Jacamars:
Yellow Billed J. (male, head of fem.), Coppery-chested J. (below Yel-b.), Bluish-fronted J. (next below), White-chinned J. (inward), Great J. (above), Paradise J. (to the right of Great), Purplish J. (fem head), White-throated J., Brown J., Purus J., and White-eared J.
Species of Barbets:
Scarlet-hooded B. (male, fem), Versicolored B. (4 figs, fem center), Gilded B. (5 figs, 2 males and 3 fems center), Lemon-throated B. (2 males, fem center), Red-headed B. (male, fem), Scarlet-crowned B. (male, fem).
