Pete MarshallPete has combined her veterinary knowledge with her passion for art to search the world for images to bring the fragile beauty of the endangered wildlife to the public view, and try to raise awareness of the both the subject and its environment. Her work has been acknowleged by the very top awards at the Wildlife Artists Society of Australasia Exhibitions and has achieved finalist selection at International and National exhibitions. She has been a selected finalist at Birds in Art ( 6 years ); Artists For Conservation ( Including the Simon Coombes Award finalist ); The Pencil Art Society Inaugural International Exhibition; The Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize; The Macquarie Art Prize, and selected to publish in the Strokes of Genius 6 , 8 and 9; Inspiration Wild: an Artistic Celebration of Nature and Environment; and Best of Worldwide Artists Vol 1 USA. Commissions include stamp design for Australia Post, Australian Platypus Poster and she has donated images to conservation projects including the Jane Goodall Institute, Polar Bears International, Loro Parque Foundation, Help for Wildlife, Eyes For Africa,Dingo Discovery and Wildlife SOS among others. In March 2018 Pete has been asked to curate an international art exhibition to be held in conjunction with an inaugural Global Wildlife Forum / Festival in Delhi coinciding with World Environment Day. Selected artists from around the world will be invited to exhibit their art works in Delhi and then further to travel the works to exhibitions in other States. Planning in progress. In December 2015, Pete was invited by the Government of Uttar Pradesh to participate in their inaugural Bird Fair at Chambal Safari Lodge in UP. This international event attracted some 200 delegates from around the world as well as many people from India, and was a huge success. Pete was invited as guest artist and to present one of her original paintings to the Chief Minister of the UP Government. Her inspiring painting of Lammergeiers was duly presented at the opening of the event and she also presented a power point and gave art demonstrations.
Back home in Australia, Pete has also been invited to join a team of visionary and dedicated people who have founded The Wildlife Art Museum of Australia. The WAMAFoundation is overseeing the building and development of this major project near Halls Gap in Western Victoria, Australia. The vision is to create a destination which will house a permanent collection of a narrative of wildlife art, indicating its development and influences, and provide exhibition spaces for temporary exhibitions, from 'blockbusters ' such as Artists For Conservation and Birds in Art, to national and local art groups from all fields inspired by nature. There will also be informative and educational facilities for younger Australians and visitors in the fields of art, wildlife conservation and environmental sustainability. The grounds will be laid out to feature indigenous plantings and wetlands. Pete is currently Senior Art Advisor to the Art Advisory Council to WAMAFoundation.
