In today’s fast-paced world, we often overlook the bounty of wild creatures that have adapted to human encroachment and shrinking habitat to live their lives among us. As a wildlife artist, my challenge is to capture a fleeting moment in nature. I wish to instill in the viewer that split second of wonder and awe when you come into the presence of an animal in its natural environment. And when a viewer says, “I want to reach out and feel the softness of the feathers/fur,” that is my measure of the painting’s success. I have made that animal “real” to the viewer.

I also strive to tell a story, to create a curiosity about the environment beyond the image. By raising awareness of the “big picture,” my paintings enable the viewer to become more environmentally conscious and recognize the urgent need to conserve our natural resources for the benefit of every living being.
