Several passions come together in the paintings you see on this site. First a love of birds and flowers. Second a love of light and shadow, especially as it fills with color on the feathers of graceful, white birds. Third, Captiva Island where I find the first two passions in abundance along with the ocean. Finally, transparent watercolor as it flows on wet, pristine white paper. Putting these all together in each painting is the flight for me. I'm grateful for a life that has allowed me to express these passions over and over for 32 years – to my artist parents and godparents, and to a devoted and supportive partner.

The painting you see here, Razzle Dazzle, has made three dreams come true in one year: to receive my signature member ship in the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, where it was awarded the 2006 Skyledge Award-the organization's top prize; admission into the American Watercolor Society 2007 Annual Show where it was awarded the Ogden and Mary Pleissner Memorial Award and admission to Watercolor West where it was awarded the St. Cuthbert's Mill award. It was also selected for publication in Splash 10, now in the bookstores.

Watercolor Secrets: An Inside Look at the Techniques of Award-Winning Splash Artists, from North Light Publishers, is now available. Amazon.com lets you look inside many of the first pages. If you follow the link below and do that, you will find that Ch.1, Spotlighting the Beauty of a Flower, is mine.
