AFC Virtual Exhibit Officially Open! |
Milestone coincides with Launch of New AFC Website
10/29/2010 - Dear Supporters, Colleagues and Friends of AFC,
Today marks a milestone in the 13-year history of Artists For Conservation! We are proud and excited to announce the launch of the new ArtistsForConservation.org website and our first Virtual Exhibit – The Art of Conservation 2010 – which opens today at www.ArtistsForConservation.org/exhibit2010.
This year's exhibit, which we are presenting exclusively online, showcases 150 conservation-themed paintings and sculptures by some of the world's most regarded artists in the nature and wildlife art genres.
All of the artists featured in this exhibit are lending their talent to support wildlife and habitat conservation and to celebrate our natural heritage. As artists, we have always been at the forefront of conservation and this is a great example of our art in action. The artists in the Exhibit have on average pledged 15 percent of the proceeds from the sale of their work to conservation charities of their choice.
The Art of Conservation will be open from today until December 31, 2010. All pre-priced works will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis directly by the artist. We are also offering the companion guide to the Exhibit which features all 150 works in an elegant coffee-table book format, in addition to greeting cards and environmentally-themed calendars. One dollar of the sale of each calendar goes to the Wildlife Conservation Society. Make sure to stop by our AFC Online Store
By hosting the exhibit on the World Wide Web, we open it up to a global audience and it is our hope to promote global awareness and raise funds for conservation this way. We have the potential of raising over $75,000 for various conservation charities if all works sell.
We would also like to recognize and bring awareness to the fine artists from around the world who are contributing to this exhibit to support wildlife and habitat conservation. Without them, our partners and all our 500 exceptional members, Artists for Conservation would not be recognized today as the leader in supporting the environment through art.
We look forward to sharing with you more frequently our latest news, initiatives and program updates and hope that you will visit us frequently at www.ArtistsForConservation.org to view the latest works by our members and support us in our global artistic movement that inspires individuals and organizations to preserve and sustain our natural heritage. Whether it is through spreading the word about what we do, donating, sponsoring or buying art for conservation or anything in-between, we appreciate and depend on every contribution.
Sincerely,
Jeff Whiting Founder & President Artists For Conservation www.artistsforconservation.org
