Since I was young I've often wondered "What was this place like 3 or 4 hundred years ago..." Valleys that are now choked with smog, rivers with pollution you can't see along with that which you can.. Being based in Southern California can present challenges to photographing the local area in which I live... But being in the mountains at around 5000 ft elevation helps.. I try to convey the way it used to be in my images.
Since moving to the San Bernardino Mtns. 16 years ago I've become even more aware of the delicate balance in nature. We are very fortunate to have a small population of Bald Eagles that return here to winter and they have become one of my favorite subjects.. We have a small zoo in Big Bear lake called "The Moonridge Zoo" and any bald eagle image I sell be it wild or at a zoo I donate a portion of those sales to the Moonridge facility to help care for the eagles they have.

My favorite place in the world to photograph nature is by far the state of Alaska.. For me, being there gives me the feeling of what it was like in North America those 3 or 4 hundred years ago and I travel there as often as I can....
