Miraflores Locks, Panama Canal, Panama
Tuesday, December 6, 2005
Built by the Americans in the early 20th century, the Panama Canal lock-and-lake waterway remains one of the great engineering marvels of all time.  The Canal extends 80km from Colón on the Atlantic to Panama City on the Pacific, passing through three sets of locks.  The Miraflores is one of these locks, and its visitors centre contains several good viewing platforms where you can watch the ships pass through.
