Purpose: To retrace the steps of the American Museum of Natural History icon, Carl Akeley; to tell the unique story of how an artist catalyzed Africa's first national park; and to highlight and support current conservation work being done to save the Mountain Gorilla.

Steve Quinn is an accomplished artist (painter and sculptor), and Senior Project Manager at the American Museum of Natural History.

He is also a world authority on the art, techniques and history of museum dioramas, and author of “Windows on Nature:­ The Great Habitat Dioramas of the American Museum of Natural History”. Steve is an AFC board member and has been actively involved as an advisor and participant in AFC since its founding. Steve is experienced and well-prepared for the work involved in researching the historic AMNH gorilla expedition, and the fieldwork in relocating the diorama sites and executing the goals of the expedition.
