Expedition #6: Cross River Gorillas - The Most Endangered Primate When: November 2007
In this sixth Flag Expedition, Daniel Taylor travels to Cameroon to observe the critically endangered Cross River Gorilla in its remaining habitat, conduct the first artistic field study of the primate in the wild and support conservation efforts through fundraising and education.
The AFC Art for Conservation initiative is an innovative program
designed to facilitate fundraising for organizations who support
nature conservancy. This initiative provides a venue for AFC artists
to display artwork to potential buyers from which proceeds are voluntarily
earmarked by the artist to a conservation organization of their
choice.
The Save the Albatross campaign target is to reduce the number of seabird death caused by the longlining fishing industry to a sustainable level.
BirdLife's Save the Albatross Campaign is a beneficiary of the AFC
Art for Conservation program.
Total estimated commitments:
$309,750.00 US.
AFC members have voluntarily earmarked a portion
of the proceeds from the sale of their artwork
to BirdLife's Save the Albatross Campaign through the AFC's Art for Conservation
program.
