The AOP is a non-partisan organization that supports all orangutan conservation organizations. Being non-partisan they can distribute funds due to conservation needs only. Also they use our ability to support all organizations as a way of bringing orangutan conservation organisations together.
Leif Cocks, AOP's president, is part of orangutan scientific working groups (his academic qualifications are in orangutan conservation, as with several other members), Leif Cocks is involved in producing conservation action plans for orang utans. For example the Orangutan Conservation and Reintroduction Workshop in Palangka Raya, Kalimantan, June 2002 and the Population Habitat Viability (PHVA) Workshop in 2003, which were conducted under the Conservation Breeding specialist group umbrella (CBSG, part of the Species Survival Commission (SSC) of the IUCN). This gives us up to date knowledge on issues and the most effective use of funds. |

Art for ConservationTM Commitment Goal:
$4,570.00 US.
Australian Orangutan Project has been indicated by AFC members as a potential recipient of donations by participating artists. AFC's Art for ConservationTM program, provides a forum to promote artwork that benefits recognized conservation organizations such as Australian Orangutan Project.
AFC members have voluntarily and independently earmarked a portion of the proceeds from the sale of their artwork to Australian Orangutan Project. AFC's Art for ConservationTM program provides a forum to help promote artwork for sale that includes such a commitment. Each artists's commitment is contingent on the sale of their work and the above estimate is a potential total based on the completion of sale of any original work and/or limited editions. The AFC is not involved in any way with artwork sales transactions, nor does it make any guarantees relating to artist commitments. The AFC takes no commission whatsoever from the sale of artwork under the Art for ConservationTM program, unless explicitly indicated.
