Friends Of Ruaha National Park |
|
|
The Friends of Ruaha is a Registered Society which was formed in 1984 with the aim of raising funds to support the conservation of the flora and fauna of the Ruaha National Park and the surrounding Game Reserves in Tanzania, East Africa. Tanzania has 12 National Parksa great commitment to preserving the World's Wildlife heritage. It is surely the responsibility of all of us to provide every assistance to this tremendous commitment. Already FORS has provided fuel, oil, spare parts, books, cement and grader blades, in addition to aeroplane flying hours, funds for fire control, road construction, ranger post construction, anti-poaching rewards for Rangers, general repairs and maintenance. These are the nuts and bolts of Park Management provided in response to requests from the Chief Park Warden. FORS supports the Ruaha Conservation Group (RCG) who, in their effort to protect a vitally important Buffer Zone along the river, successfully bid for the Mkupule block and employ, equip and supply four scouts to control the entry gates and carry out various tasks aimed at protecting this vital area. RGC's sector has improved greatly in stark contrast to the pitiful state of the neighbouring block. This is part of the Mbomipa Utilization Programme, which is a pilot scheme. |
