"Last of Her Kind": In-progress Sculpture
The result of preliminary research and scale skeletal reconstructions on paper, the armature is now complete and ready to receive layers of clay to build up the musculature.

"Last of Her Kind": In-progress Sculpture
After the final buildup of musculature and addition of details like fur, teeth and eyes, the sculpture is ready for firing and polychroming.

"Last of Her Kind" --Finished Sculpture
Polychroming is completed with acrylic latex paints applied with a damp sponge and red sable brushes. My intention of "Last of Her Kind" is to evoke, through the eyes of the only surviving female sabertoothed cat Smilodon, the avoidable fate of our world's surviving felines.

Sculpting Archaeotherium Reconstruction
In his studio, Mark refines the facial muscle reconstruction of the Miocene pig-like entelodont for a demonstration seminar.
