Art of Eleazar Saenz is Image for International Migratory bird day 2008 -Tundra to Tropics |
|
Each year, the team Of IMBD coordinators and sponsors selects the theme that meets diverse criteria to reach the varied audiences that celebrate IMBD. The theme must be conservation-based, current positive, tangible, educational, and angaging. Once chosen, the theme becomes the focus of education materials.
Each year, the IMBD poster offers beautiful images of birds. The species are not chosen randomly, but with careful consideration to the annual conservation theme to the scientific data that is available, and to the need to accomodate organizers and celebrants throughout the Western Hemisphere. In 2008, the twelve featured species represent the many habitats in the Western Hemisphere, the complexity of how birds select and use habitats and the impacts loss of habitat may have on birds. The ultimate goal of the art and information it conveys is to encourage IMBD partners and participants to take part in bird conservation |
