Parkinson awarded at 5th Annual Marine Wildlife Exhibit
Linda Parkinson's watercolor, "The Promise", featuring a pair of Northern Gannets, was awarded Best in Water Media at the Mendocino Art center's 5th Annual Marine Wildlife International Juried Exhibit, 2008. In 2007, Linda's painting of an Immature Brown Pelican was also awarded best in Water media at this show. "I was attracted to these birds for their exotic facial markings and their lovely blue beaks. While researching information on Northern Gannets for this painting, I read that these large aquatic birds from the Booby family mate for life. They return to the rookeries yearly and perform their courtship 'dance', bringing gifts of seaweed for their mate. The thought that these birds make "The Promise" to return, against all odds, and to stay together made this painting very special."
