Hamanaka to join Galapagos Marine Reserve conservation
WNAG member Setsuo Hamanaka joined Galapagos Marine Reserve Conservation Project. The project is managed by the Galapagos National Park collaborated with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) started on 20 January 2004 to promote activities of conservation for Galapagos Marine Reserve with the participation of local residents. Setsuo as a short term despatched expert from JICA entered Santa Cruz Island on 17 November 2006, study the potential participatory fishing to support a fishery cooperative in the island and improve artisanal fishermen's economic conditionsand reduce dependence on marine resourses. He will stay in the archipelago till in the middle of January 2007.
