Abundant birds |
|
A local gallery situated in Yallindup, South West Australia approached me to produce a collection of still life paintings. I was delighted and thought this would be a great opportunity to introduce the local birds not only into my paintings but to the many visitors to the gallery. My husband and I have just recently moved into the area. I set off with camera in hand in search of the local wildlife. I soon became aware of the wonderful variety of birds in the immediate vacinity. We have the exquistie Splendid Fairy Wren who is a fairly regular visitor in our garden. The male is a vivid blue and the female has a pale beige body with light blue tale. They are very difficult to photograph as they constantly dart around. So far I have discovered Parrots, Lorikeets, Magpies, Galahs, New Holland honey eaters, Scarlet Robin, Willy Wagtails, Crested Doves, Silver Eyes, Seagulls, Terns to name a few. I will have plenty to keep me painting! Hopefully drawing attention to our local birds will make people more aware of what we have in our own back yards. As this is a popular tourist destination I am sure the many overseas visiors will find it interesting and learn a bit more about our Australian birds. |
