The Pollyanna Pickering Award for theBest Depiction of the Living World |
|
Pollyanna was delighted to present a brand new trophy which bears her name at the Fine Art Trade Guild’s annual gala dinner - The Pollyanna Pickering award for the Best Depiction of the Living World.
In her speech Pollyanna commented that the recent resurgence of interest in Wildlife Art and images of the natural world makes this the perfect time to launch this brand new award, which will be presented annually.
She found judging the award a very challenging task, due to the high standard of work entered – and the diverse mixture of styles and subject matter. In the end she selected a fascinating and delicate piece of work by Toni Watts, which she singled out for its originality. The award was accepted on Toni’s behalf by her framer. In 2013 Pollyanna was honoured to be a finalist herself in the Guild’s Professional Art awards.
The Fine Art Trade Guild is the trade association for the art and framing industry Formed in 1910 as the successor to the Printsellers’ Association, it was set up to oversee the fine art print trade. The Guild continues to set globally recognised standards for prints, and in addition, it sets standards and guidelines for picture framing. Guild members agree to abide by the Code of Ethics and keep up to date with the latest standards, trends and materials. Guild standards have been developed by and for the industry, and are designed to protect consumers as well as providing clear guidelines for manufacturers, framers, publishers and fine art printers. |
