Terry WoodallAFC Interpretive and Abstract Wood Sculpture
The art exhibition “Endangered: Art for Apes” will open in Miami’s Wynwood Art District as part of the kick off events of Art Basel week beginning Dec. 5. Two of Terry’s works were selected for this global juried fine arts event, which emphasizes “Endangered” as it applies to animals, plants, the environment and its ecosystems. Proceeds from the exhibition will benefit The Center for the Great Apes in Wauchula, Florida.
Terry’s new and unusual art form consists of enlarged digital photo prints of actual wood grain images. During 30 years of sculpting his native Oregon Myrtlewood, Terry has selected out rare pictures in the wood grain that have an uncanny resemblance to birds, animals and human faces. His interpretation of these exclusive and uncommon images are then transferred to archival paper prints and canvases.
“Climber” is printed on archival paper with natural colors of the wood. This art piece in the exhibition is number one in a limited edition of 18. “Mandrill” is number one in a limited edition of 18 and is color enhanced and printed on canvas. The original wood cross section images on gold matting are also on exhibit.
