David Shepherd, a British artist, renowned internationally for his steam locomotives and wildlife art visited Belfast recently. Lorna Hamilton was fortunate enough to receive an invite to the exclusive launch of 'The David Shepherd Archive Collection'. The beautifully hand bound book displays art work from the beginning of his career.
Lorna arrived at the event a little early and had the pleasure of speaking with Mr Shepherd for over 30 minutes. 'He spoke to me about his work and kindly asked me about mine. He told me stories of his African trips and spoke passionately about the Elephant orphanage which he began a number of years ago, it was a true honor to meet with such a legend in art.'
Mr Shepherd, who is now in his 80's continues to paint, he raises hundred's of thousands of pounds for conservation each year. Lorna said, 'I feel very blessed to have met David Shepherd; I also spent time with Robert Bateman at his Master Artists Seminar last year. I can't believe I have met two of wildlife's greatest artists, both have been a great encouragement to me.'
