In its 77th year, the International Fine Art Exhibition of the Miniature Painters, Sculptors & Gravers Society of Washington, DC is held annually at the beautiful Mansion At Strathmore in North Bethesda, MD.
Prior to the opening of the show a judge is selected to use his or her professional judgment to choose the award winners. With over 800 paintings and sculptures in the show this can be a very daunting and tedious process. After careful examination, and often under a magnifying glass, slowly but surely artworks are eliminated and the winners emerge.
"Hello Dolly" may be a very simple looking painting, but its accuracy, incredible detail, use of values and color, plus the unusual frame selection, make this piece an outstanding total package.
