Pollyanna Painting to be auctioned at Christies for Tusk
One of Pollyanna's paintings ‘Rock of Ages' (above) will be auctioned at Christies auction house in London to raise funds for the work of the charity Tusk.
Since its formation in 1990 Tusk has raised over £12 million for a wide range of projects across Africa which not only work to protect wildlife, particularly endangered species, but also help to alleviate poverty, through sustainable development and education amongst rural communities who live alongside wildlife. Tusk currently provides financial, logistical and practical support for a large portfolio of field projects spread across 17 African countries. This support includes the purchase of vehicles, aircraft, radio equipment, as well as the construction of primary and secondary schools, clinics, water improvement schemes, roads, buildings, bridges and airstrips, in addition to helping to cover the direct costs of game scouts and wildlife.
The founder of Tusk, Sir Timothy Ackroyd asked Pollyanna if he could include her painting of a leopard in his forthcoming book ‘Ackroyd's Ark', his second compilation book of paintings, sketches, doodles and short stories by an extensive and fascinating collection of well known people, artists and authors. This new book comes five years after the huge success of his first volume, which raised substantial funds for Tusk.
Pollyanna's painting will be auctioned alongside other works featured in the book at the launch event at Christie's in St James's, London on the 20th September, in the presence of Tusk patron HRH Prince William. The event will include a reception for 350 guests – please see the ‘What's On' section for details of how you can obtain tickets.
