Birds in Art |
|
Canadian artist Cheryl Gervais Battistelli has recently had artwork accepted into the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum's international Birds In Art exhibit.
Considered to be the most prestigious show in the world for bird art, competition is fierce to win a place at the museum's autumn festival, held every September in Wausau, Wisconsin. Out of the 884 entries submitted, Battistelli's piece entitled "My Song" will be exhibited alongside that of 112 other juried artists chosen from six continents including past Master Wildlife Artists, and the 2009 Master artist, John Busby. The distinguished group of masters, deceased and living, includes names such as, Roger Tory Peterson, Robert Bateman, J. Fenwick Lansdowne, George MacLean, and Ray Harris-Ching.
The 33rd annual event draws thousands of people from around the globe, and opens September 12, running until November 15 in Wausau, then continuing on a national tour in which Battistelli's piece is included. |
