Hap Hagood's Work Receives National Scuplture Society Award |
|
On the night of Ocotober 18th, 2004, at the awards presentation for the National Sculpture Society 71st Annual Awards Exhibition in New York City, Hap Hagood's work, "Servant of the Sun", a contemporary eagle bust in maple burl, was awarded the Dr. H.A. Fadhli Award for the best carved work in stone or wood. The awards jury consisted of three people: Stanley Bleifeld, Fellow National Sculpture Society; Paul Matisse, a sculptor and inventor; and Anne Hawley, Director and Curator of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, Massachusetts. Of the 35 sculptures on exhibit in New York, a total of 17 received awards. These 17 award winning works will travel from Manhattan's Park Avenue Atrium, where they are currently on exhibit, to South Carolina's Brookgreen Gardens, America's oldest and largest sculpture gardens, where they will be exhibited March 12 through May 22, 2005. |
