Shades Of Summer After the initial conseption of the painting I scratch some thumb nail sketches on scrap paper to figure out the best composition then I pencil in the main objects as depicted in the photo.
Shades Of Summer Airbrushed in background and start on branches
Shades Of Summer Next comes some leaves. I airbrushed them in to give it a out of focus look.
Shades Of Summer adding some detail
Shades Of Summer I wanted that "glowing" look you get from backlight on thin leaves. added a few rain drops for fun:)
Shades Of Summer blocked in the chickadee
Shades Of Summer More detail! The lighting is almost direct from the left but slighly infused from the right making it a bit tricky to get the right lighting on the bird
Shades Of Summer I had a lot of fun painting all the detail in the feathers and such. Its not all about detail but with the background been out of focus with little to look at I thought I could play it up on the bird
Shades Of Summer Done! Its hard to see but there is green light reflected on its eye and lower feathers helping to pull it into the settings around it
