I have been an oil painter for the past twenty-eight years, painting plein air and in my studio. I enjoy the buttery texture of the paint, the intensity achievable through its colors, and the smell of the slow drying process. I utilize the characters of the paint to make a thin translucent layers and bold thick opaque brush strokes. Through this medium and a calculated composition, I breathe the life of my subjects onto linen. I travel extensively to enhance and rejuvenate my vision. My animal images are timeless, spiritual, the essence of being. I paint both wild and domestic animals, with the goal to extract their energy and share it with the viewer. The background is vague, allowing the viewer to create a personal story or journey. The animal’s surroundings metamorphosize over time, adapting to the perceptions of the viewer, mimicking the transformation of the landscape altered through wind, water, and time.
