Unttiled Yellow-billed Hornbills- Namibia I first sketch out the composition and overall values in a sketch book. I do not sketch directly on my canvass.
Untitled- Yellow-billed Hornbills - Namibia I tone the canvass - with a burnt sienna wash in this case. Then I sketch in the large shapes with my brush.
Untitled - Yellow-billed Hornbills - Namibia The darkest colors are then blocked in.
Untitled Yellow-billed Hornbills - Namibia The main colors are blocked in next.
Untitled Yellow-billed Hornbills - Namibia I then work background to foreground further defining shapes and adding color and depth.
Untitled Yellow-billed Hornbills - Namibia I made some adjustments to the background to help the composition and have startd the glazing process. There are many layers of glaze used to heighten the luminosity of the colors and create more depth. Stay tuned for the next installment.
