Poppies in Progress.... I covered the white canvas with colour to take the glare off, then began a freehand sketch building a garden from various photos I'd taken.
Poppies in Progress.... I wanted to start with the greenery and leave the poppies to the end. Just a preference...like waiting for dessert! Trying to be disciplined.

Poppies in Progress.... Worked on the flowers' centers and more glazes and washes on the petals.
Poppies in Progress.... Painted little stem and leaf hairs and more leaves.
Poppies in Progress.... A few hundred million more fine hairs (slivers?) and I'm not finished yet, but it's getting pretty exciting now!!
Poppies in Progress.... Deepened the colours on the petals and moved the painting outside to be photographed. This changed things a little but it shows up the details a better.Called it "Hearts of Fire".
